Player Development Academy FAQ

Who can participate in the PDA? Player Devlopment Academy is open to all U8 - U10 age soccer players looking to improve their skills and knowledge of the Game. The Academy Teams are for U9/U10 players and is open to those who have attended at least three PDA sessions with above average skills or have the desire to take their skills to the next level. Those players in the U8 age group are welcome to participate at the invitation of the PDA Director. If you are joining during the summer months, then we go by the age group your child will be as of the Fall Season.

When are the Player Development Academy training sessions? Generally, sessions are held on a week night at Felida Park Soccer Fields in the spring, summer, and fall. Please watch the PDA Home webpage for schedule changes and announcements. These days will vary from session to session

When do games occur? At this time, the PDA teams participate in a Fall and Spring Developmental Leagues in Oregon (schedules are handed out to all players who sign up for a team). Winter teams play indoor at the Salmon Creek Indoor Sports Arena in as many teams as we have coaches for. Summer teams participate in local tournaments in the Portland and Vancouver areas.

Where will games be played at? Team games will be played on Sunday's in Portland.

Is there an official PDA uniform? Yes. We want the players to experience the pride of belonging to a team. When all players dress alike, they feel part of the team. Academy participants receive a T-shirt as part of their registration fee. Academy Teams have a number of options and is decided by the coach.

How much does it cost for Academy training or to join a team? Academy sessions are $85 for 5/6 Sessions during the Spring, Summer or Fall. If a player is on a PDA team then the fee includes the Academy training sessions and their total fee is $175. The cost for tournaments can vary but in general, the cost of the tournament is divided evenly among the players on the team.

Do I have to join an Academy team or can I just do the PDA training sessions? Participants can just attend the training sessions. You do not have to play on a PDA team to participate in the PDA Academy. Players who are participating on either a local recreational team or a development team should make their team practices a priority and attend Academy sessions as time and schedules permit.

Do I have to do the training sessions or can I just join an Academy team? Players who have attended PDA sessions or regularly attend PDA Academy training sessions to be considered for the various teams that are formed for tournament or league play.

How do I sign-up? Online registration will be available for the current PDA session. Team registration is allowed online after an invitation by the coach or coaching director but the final roster is subject to approval.
