Why SCSC no longer publishes Email Addresses

Salmon Creek Soccer Club used to make board member Emails available for everyone to use, however over time, as search engines picked up our site (which is good) so did the spammers (which is bad).

Before implementing this message board, board members were, even with aggressive SPAM filleting, typically receiving more than 100 junk Emails a day (The president was receiving more than 300). Filtering the real soccer club Email from the multitude of well disguised solicitations for drugs, software and explicit material was proving to be rather overwhelming.

Because the web site used to forward Emails, and so many Emails were SPAM, salmoncreeksoccer.net became blacklisted by certain internet service providers, namely comcast. By removing Emails from the web site, we hope to prevent future blacklisting.

Messages posted here are forwarded to the appropriate board members through Email and can contain one attachment each of up to 2 Mbytes in size (one reasonably large photograph in JPEG format for example). However to limit further opportunities for Email abuse, we no longer post any Email addresses to the site.
